Creare Collaborare Prodesse

Laboratorys and Librarys (LALS) is an independent developer of intellectual properties. Incorporated on 4 July 2023, the company has remained in a pre-commercial phase. Up to 2024, efforts focused on establishing the company and maintaining its compliance framework. Between 2025 and 2026, development has centered on LALS Architecture, BMII, MDLM and CONTINUUM.

LALS is founded by Ian JK Tan. He has more than 25 years of experience, much of it in management and leadership roles, including more than fifteen years as part of management teams. His experience has spanned product and pricing strategy, market development and network planning, the development of long-term Vision and annual Strategy, customer-facing commercial work and project leadership, and the building and transformation of organizational capabilities. His work has included developing data-driven, analytical and business-intelligence capabilities through structured training and coaching, developing people and teams through transformation, designing and improving operational systems and flows, and leading tender projects that bring different stakeholders together to develop and present customer propositions.

Across different industries, functions and responsibilities, a consistent part of his work has been developing ideas, bringing different people and capabilities together, and bringing those ideas to life. LALS provides a platform to continue that work through the development of intellectual property.

Defense and performance are where LALS has chosen to focus that work. Both place people, teams, organizations, technologies and ideas under demand, creating different but complementary needs that LALS seeks to address through IP.

The core values of LALS are meant to work together. None stands alone.

Creare — Wanting to think, feel, and do something new—and proactively making it happen. It is more than simply creating. Creare is about being natural and calm in encountering the new, while possessing the curiosity and initiative to move toward it. It is not enough to be open to new ideas or willing to change when circumstances demand it. Creare requires wanting to explore, discover and act.

Collaborare — Wanting to give and receive so that people become stronger together—and actively making that happen. It is more than simply working with others. Collaborare is two-way. We learn and teach. We coach and be coached. We are both mentored and the mentor. We seek the knowledge, capability and support of others while making our own available to them. Collaboration should leave the people involved stronger because they worked together.

Prodesse — To be useful. To be of benefit. Prodesse gives purpose and accountability to Creare and Collaborare. Creating without producing something useful can become an intellectual exercise. Collaborating without contributing can become participation without consequence. Prodesse forces whether our thinking, actions and work with others ultimately produced something of benefit.

The three values are therefore not independent virtues from which we choose. They work as one. Prodesse demands that Creare and Collaborare lead somewhere. We want to think, feel and do something new. We want to make it happen with others. And ultimately, what we create together should be useful.
