About

Laboratorys and Librarys (LALS) was incorporated on 4 July 2023 with a long-term purpose: to explore continuity, capability preservation and judgment under uncertainty.

Since its inception, the organization has remained in a pre-commercial phase while foundational work was undertaken. Between 2023 and 2024, efforts focused on establishing the organization and maintaining its compliance framework. Between 2025 and 2026, development centered on the LALS Architecture, including intellectual property development and patent preparation.

Its purpose is to restore focus, execution and accountability within the known while building judgment and capability within the unknown — achieving continuity with judgment under uncertainty.

Founder

Ian JK Tan has more than twenty-five years of experience spanning financial services, advertising, marketing, communications, business development and digitalization.

He has spent more than fifteen years as part of management teams reporting directly to managing directors, providing sustained exposure to organizational leadership, strategy execution, transformation initiatives and decision-making at senior management level.

In addition, he has held leadership responsibilities for more than two decades, progressing from early management roles to director-level positions across multiple functions and disciplines.

Throughout his career, he has worked at the intersection of human behaviour, communication, technology and organisational systems. This progression led to a broader interest in continuity, capability preservation, institutional memory and decision-making under uncertainty.

These experiences ultimately informed the development of Laboratorys and Librarys and the LALS Architecture, which seek to preserve judgment, capability and continuity in an increasingly complex world.
